Who we are

Nestled in Courmayeur, at the heart of the Alps, Pierre Alexis 1877 offers a gastronomic experience that combines mountain culture, culinary innovation, and warm family hospitality.

Under the direction of Chef Stefano Marchetto, the cuisine honors the freshness and seasonality of ingredients.
Each dish brings together the flavors of memory and the territory with creative experimentation and international influences.

The atmosphere

The restaurant takes its name from the historic building that houses it, dating back to 1877.
Once a stable and carpentry workshop, it has been transformed into an elegant restaurant that preserves many of its original architectural features. A warm and refined setting — ideal for a gourmet dinner, a gathering with friends, or a special celebration.

During the warmer months, guests can dine on the terrace and enjoy the pure mountain air.

The philosophy

The cuisine of Pierre Alexis 1877 is defined by a refined menu, curated in every detail, using fresh, seasonal, and high-quality ingredients.

Its culinary philosophy is rooted in a deep connection with the territory, expressed through direct collaboration with local producers and a careful selection of the finest products.

A creative cuisine that reinterprets regional classics, presents multicultural dishes with oriental inspirations, recipes inspired by northern wild biodiversity, and refined French influences.

The Chef personally selects and harvests wild herbs in spring and forest fruits in autumn, ensuring variety and seasonality in dishes that evolve in harmony with nature. Vegetables and herbs come from the Marchetto family garden, personally looked after by the chef and his children.

The chef

Chef Stefano Alessandro Marchetto is the soul and heart of Pierre Alexis 1877. His passion for cooking, inherited from his maternal grandmother Regina, combined with deep knowledge of the territory and constant curiosity, makes each dish an immersive journey.

His career began as Chef and Executive Chef in several restaurants across the Aosta Valley, later expanding to experiences in London and Crete.

In 2012, together with his wife Monica, he took the helm of Pierre Alexis 1877, earning recognition in major gastronomic guides.

Today, the restaurant stands as a benchmark for contemporary mountain cuisine in Courmayeur and the entire Aosta Valley.

The Marchetto
family

The Marchetto family manages the restaurant with care and passion, creating a refined, family-friendly atmosphere where guests feel at home.

Chef Stefano is supported by his wife Monica, who oversees the dining room to ensure a warm welcome and impeccable service, and by their sons Nicholas, Egon, and Liam.

Nicholas began his culinary career at the age of 16, while attending hotel management school; Liam, on the other hand, returned home and chose to join the family project after gaining experience in dining rooms in international cities, such as Milan. Egon is the restaurant’s sommelier: he selects wines and seeks the perfect pairings with the dishes.

The Venue

Just a few steps from the center of Courmayeur, Pierre Alexis 1877 is a place that feels like home, where every detail has been lovingly cared for by the Marchetto family since 2012. The family’s collaboration is reflected in every aspect of the restaurant: from Stefano’s creations, supported in the kitchen by his son Nicolas, to Monica’s warm hospitality and management of the dining room, enriched by Liam’s storytelling of the dishes, and Egon’s meticulous selection of wines.

The dining room, housed in a historic building, tells a story of mountains, stone, passion, and conviviality.
Centuries-old beams, solid wood tables, and contemporary details – from velvet seating to soft lighting – create a unique balance between rustic warmth and sophistication.
Pierre Alexis 1877 is an elegant retreat, a family-run restaurant where authenticity and class coexist in a singular experience.
